About
About Ballroom Dancing
Originally developed in England and now regulated by the World Dance Council (WDC) and the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF), Ballroom Dancing is a type of partnership dancing that is enjoyed both socially and competitively, and has been shown to improve coordination, social skills and fitness, and build trust and self-confidence.
There are three style of Ballroom Dancing: Standard, Latin and New Vogue.
Standard and Latin consist of five dances each, where as New Vogue, which is based off of Standard technique, has 16 dances that can be separated into four rhythms; Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango and 6-8.
The two Governing bodies of Ballroom Dancing within Australia are the Australian Dancing Board and DanceSport Australia, both of which are members of the World Dance Council.
All Qualified Teachers are trained and must successfully complete an exam for each of the four levels (Level 0, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3) in the chosen style to earn their qualifications for that style at that level. This is done through DanceSport Australia.

With years of community and experience on its side, Dale’s Ballroom has helped hundreds of students over the years learn, have fun and build lasting life skills that they have been able to apply to other aspects of their lives.
Dale’s Ballroom Dancing is led by Dale, the most qualified and experienced ballroom coach in Canberra, ACT.
About Dale
Dale started dancing when she 7 years old and competed in competitions throughout Australia for many years before turning professional and completing qualifications in all three styles of Ballroom and is a Championship Adjudicator and Qualified Coach.

Dale established Dale’s Ballroom Dancing over 25 years ago, when she took over Canberra Ballroom Dance Studio once Dale’s mentor, Gwen Wallace (or ‘The Great Wally’ as she fondly called her), decided it was time to take a step back.
